Early Life and Education
Thuli Madonsela was born on the 28th of September 1962 in Johannesburg, South Africa. She grew up in Soweto with her parents and had a childhood where she learned a lot from her family and friends.
Thuli Madonsela, however, left for Swaziland, where she studied at Evelyn Baring High School. She attended Evelyn Baring High School in Nhlangank, Swaziland, for her secondary education.
Thuli Madonsela further enrolled for a degree in Law from the University of Swaziland, from which she graduated in 1987.
Thuli Madonsela also obtained an LLB from the University of Witwatersrand, South Africa, in 1990. She earned a Doctor of Law degree LL.D (Honoris Causa) from the University of Stellenbosch and the University of Cape Town.

Her daughter’s name is Wenzile Madonsela and she had her traditional marriage in 2017 to Khulekile Msimanga.
In February 2022, Wenzile dragged her mom publicly on Twitter, calling her a toxic person.
Career
Thuli Madonsela has worked in the public and private sectors since the 1980s. She was a known member of the team that drafted the final constitution of South Africa in 1996.
Thuli Madonsela once served as a member of South Africa’s Law Reform Commission, a position she was appointed to by President Thabo Mbeki in 2007.
She further held the role of “Public Protector,” a position which ex-South African President Jacob Zuma appointed her to resume.
Thuli Madonsela held this position for 7 years and had massive support from the multi-party National Assembly.
