Kefentse Mahlo is a famous Rugby player of South African descent who currently plays for Blue Bulls XV. Recognized as a top and award-winning athlete, he is a prominent figure in the Rugby Challenge.

Early Life and Education

Kefentae Mahlo was born on March 31, 1993, in Ga-Sekororo, Tzaneen, South Africa. He attended Ben Vorster High School in Tzaneen, Limpopo, where he excelled in hockey and cricket.

Kofentse Mahlo represented the Limpopo Blue Bulls at the age of 13; he appeared at the 2006 U13 Craven Week Rugby Union Competition.

After his senior school education, he attended the prestigious University of Pretoria for his degree program.

Career

Kefentse Mahlo has always shown great potential in sports and, as such, has a promising future ahead of him. At the age of 16, he represented Limpopo at the Under-16 Grant Khomo Week Competition. 

Through his performance in the competition, Kefentse Mahlo earned a place in the Under-16 South Africa Elite Squad. He also played a crucial part for his team at the South African Premier High School Rugby Competition.

In 2011, Kefentse Mahlo earned a contract from Limpopo’s parent union, Blue Bulls. He represented the U19s in the 2012 Under-19 Provincial Championship and scored over 5 tries in 12 recognized appearances.

Kefentse played in the semi-finals as the Blue Bulls beat the Sharks 46-35. His performance earned him a call-up to the South African Under-20 training camp, but due to injury, he wasn’t selected for the 2013 IRB Junior World Championship in France.

At the 2013 Varsity Cup, Kefentse represented and helped UP Tuks Young Guns to win the trophy. He then broke into the U-21 side of the Blue Bulls and made over 10 appearances at the Under-21 Provincial Championship. 

Kefentse represented the UP Tuks senior team at the 2014 Varsity Cup competition. Despite the team’s effort, they ended the season in fifth place and missed out on the semi-finals.

After his debut in the 2014 Vodacom Cup, Kefentse returned to Blue Bulls U21 and played in the Under-21 Provincial Championship.

He and his teammates performed excellently and won the competition after beating Western Province U21 20-10 in the finals.

Blue Bulls

Kefentse Mahlo made his debut for Blue Bulls during the 2014 Vodacom Cup competition. He scored his first try in the 116-0 demolition of Limpopo Blue Bulls.

During the 2015 campaign, Kefentse Mahlo made appearances off the bench against the Leopards and Falcons. He was also a replacement in matches against Trans-Jukskei rivals and recorded a try in a 12-24 loss to the Golden Lions.

Kefentse Mahlo was promoted to the starting line-up for the game against Pumas, which ended in a 20-18 win. He made 3 starts and 6 appearances from the bench, helping his team to the semi-finals.

At the end of the season, Kefentse Mahlo received the Vodacom Cup Player’s Player of the Year Award.

He recorded 6 tries and was named top try scorer for the Blue Bulls.
